GAO Finds Planned Parenthood Received Over a Billion in Pandemic Relief

Senator Blackburn requested the report that detailed the funding.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) recently found that Planned Parenthood had received $1.78 billion in pandemic relief funds from the U.S. government between 2019-2021. Some of those funds were taken from the Paycheck Protection Program, a small business relief program intended for businesses with less than 500 employees. Planned Parenthood currently employs over 18,000 people.

“While small businesses struggled to make ends meet during the pandemic, Planned Parenthood illegally siphoned over $90 million from the Paycheck Protection Program, specifically designed to help our mom and pop shops keep their doors open,” said Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, one of the legislators who called on the GAO to conduct this report. Senator Blackburn voiced her continued commitment to “end taxpayer-funded support for the abortion industry.”
